PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between FiveX Carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Rawls (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Carwin might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to big hands. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, FiveX Carwin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Rawls!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rawls throws out a loose jab but Carwin uses good head movement to avoid it.
Carwin tries to clinch up but Rawls circles away and keeps his distance.
Rawls looks for a takedown but Carwin sprawls well.
Rawls fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Rawls missing with a left hand there. Carwin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Carwin showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Rawls.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rawls shoots in looking for a takedown. Carwin tries to sprawl out of it but Rawls keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carwin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
FiveX Carwin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Rawls.
Rawls shoots in and drives through. Carwin sprawls well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rawls shoots for a double leg takedown but Carwin sprawls well. He's pushed Rawls's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Carwin leaves Rawls with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Rawls closes the distance and clinches up with Carwin, looking for a takedown. Rawls pushes Carwin against the cage but Carwin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Carwin counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Carwin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
FiveX Carwin is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rawls shoots and misses
and Carwin counters with a left to the body.
Carwin lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Rawls gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Carwin counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Rawls thinking.
Rawls looks gassed!

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Carwin closes the distance and clinches.
Carwin creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Rawls's defenses.


It looks like John Rawls has been cut.
Carwin lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Rawls is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Carwin pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Carwin lands an elbow that stopped Rawls in his tracks for a moment.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Carwin obliges.
Carwin landing some nice looking knees to the body.

The cut above John Rawls's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Carwin lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Carwin pushes Rawls back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

John Rawls's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at John Rawls's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
