Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Kaplan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xander Ralphinski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Xander Ralphinski will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Kaplan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xander Ralphinski!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ralphinski goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Nice defenses there by Ralphinski.

Kaplan shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Kaplan missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kaplan lands a nice short elbow.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kaplan winds up and cracks Ralphinski with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Kaplan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Ralphinski is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Kaplan throws a strike but Ralphinski rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Ralphinski wants to stand and escape but instead Kaplan has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Joe Kaplan overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Ralphinski drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kaplan manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ralphinski has Kaplan in his guard.

Kaplan postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ralphinski is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kaplan, into his guard.

Kaplan is pulling down on Ralphinski's head. It's preventing any offense from Ralphinski, at least for the moment.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kaplan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ralphinski's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Kaplan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Kaplan throws and elbow that misses. Ralphinski uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kaplan's guard. Nice move by Ralphinski!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Kaplan shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kaplan showed some decent athleticism there.
Ralphinski is refusing to be controlled, as Kaplan sits in half guard.

Kaplan looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Ralphinski is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Kaplan shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Kaplan was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Kaplan cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kaplan loads up with a big shot that hurts Ralphinski! He's pulled Kaplan in close but Kaplan has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Ralphinski survive? More strikes from Kaplan and Ralphinski is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Joe Kaplan!
