PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thorfinn Oden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Jordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Oden kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Element Eighty-Pancake Land. Mike Jordan is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thorfinn Oden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Jordan!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oden ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jordan moves away.
Jordan throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Jordan is looking to slow Oden down with leg kicks.

Oden is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Jordan's half guard.
Oden thows a huge punch but Jordan dodges it nicely.

Oden is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jordan is just riding it out for now. Oden eventually gives up the hold.

Jordan is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Oden pulls his head out easily.

Oden is working for a submission of some sort.
Oden is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Jordan reverses the position - he's now on top in Oden's guard.

Oden lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jordan!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Oden goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Jordan is on top in guard.

Oden is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jordan defends well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Oden looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Oden seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Jordan prevents Oden from getting back to his feet.
Oden trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Jordan avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Oden controls Jordan momentarily but Jordan frees himself.
Oden is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Oden looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jordan is one step ahead there.
Oden avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Oden is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jordan checks a leg kick.
Jordan throws a wild body kick that Oden sees coming a mile off.
Jordan throws a leg kick but Oden moved away.
Oden shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Good exchange - Jordan coming out on top.
Oden moves out of range of the leg kick from Jordan.
Jordan throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Oden throws a sloppy head kick and Jordan moves out of range easily.
Oden takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Donk. Jordan catches Oden right on the button with a cross.
Jordan buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Oden misses with a hook. Jordan ducked under it nicely.
Oden misses with a wild body shot.
Oden avoids a punch combination nicely.
Oden throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Jordan misses the shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Jordan dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

A shot to the liver by Jordan. Beautiful body shot.
Oden throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Good leg kick by Oden there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

and Jordan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Jordan is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

and Oden cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Oden checks a leg kick.
Oden takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Oden turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Mike Jordan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Oden chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Jordan can pounce on him.

Oden shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Oden showed some decent athleticism there.

Oden is working for a kimura but Jordan is defending it quite comfortably.
Oden thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Oden moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Jordan.
Oden wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jordan keeps working.
An elbow from Oden crashes against the mat.

Oden is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jordan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Oden decides to stand back up.

Jordan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Jordan darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Oden feints and as Jordan raises his hands in defense, Oden changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Oden landing some decent shots from guard.

Jordan is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Oden is aware though and is defending well.
Oden postures up in Jordan's guard and throws a big left but Jordan blocks it.
Jordan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Oden. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Oden thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Oden scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Jordan has momentary wrist control but Oden slips an elbow through the middle.

Oden drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Oden jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Oden gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Jordan lands a right hook to the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Oden looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Jordan!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jordan sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Thorfinn Oden dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Oden throws a leg kick
and Jordan counters with a stiff right hand.
Jordan dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Oden. That did some damage!
Jordan is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Oden on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Jordan. Jordan obviously looking to wear him down.
Jordan moves out of range of the leg kick from Oden.

Oden shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jordan manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Oden stands and steps away. Jordan gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Mike Jordan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Oden misses with a jab to the body
and Jordan counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Jordan tries a head kick but it misses.

and Oden counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Oden wants to take a breather but Jordan is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Oden is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jordan defends it well.

Jordan is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Oden scores with a couple of nice shots.

Thorfinn Oden overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Oden cracks Jordan with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Oden wants to control but instead Jordan manages to regain half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jordan is staying active underneath Oden, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Oden is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Oden has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Jordan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Oden stalling away here and it's allowed Jordan to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Jordan has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Oden is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Jordan.
