Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Leon Leobotas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Basil Dixon!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Igor Prikhodko and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leobotas lands a left and a right that send Dixon crashing to the mat, dazed. Leobotas thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
It looks like Basil Dixon has been cut.
No joy there for Leobotas, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Leobotas tries to land a front kick but Dixon steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Leobotas lands a left and a right that send Dixon crashing to the mat, dazed. Leobotas thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Leobotas rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dixon moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Dixon fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Leobotas checks it well.
Leobotas shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Leobotas misses with a head shot.
Leobotas throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Leobotas throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Dixon because Leobotas loaded up on that one.
Leobotas looking to finish Dixon with some ground and pound. This is bad for Dixon!
Leobotas is landing with some decent strikes but Dixon is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Dixon is rocked!
Dixon looks gassed!
Dixon tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Leobotas postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Dixon in real trouble here! The ref calls for Dixon to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Leon Leobotas!
