PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between JT Colossus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shinji Tatakashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinji Tatakashi!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shirou Masuda and Sosuke Kotani.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Colossus or perhaps it was just good defense by Tatakashi which made him look bad.
Colossus checks a leg kick.
Shinji Tatakashi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tatakashi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Tatakashi blocks a jab.

Colossus feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Colossus slips nicely into half guard.
Colossus wants to free his trapped foot but Tatakashi is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Colossus is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Tatakashi is just riding it out for now. Colossus eventually gives up the hold.
Colossus uses his free foot to push down on Tatakashi's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Tatakashi.
Tatakashi looks gassed!

Colossus is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Tatakashi has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Tatakashi defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Colossus.

Colossus goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Tatakashi is on top in guard.
Colossus wants to sweep but no luck.

Colossus had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Tatakashi is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Colossus Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Tatakashi's back instead.
Tatakashi rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Tatakashi tries to get to full guard but Colossus has control of the leg.

Colossus working for a submission but Tatakashi is keeping him at bay.

Colossus throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Colossus goes for an armbar but Tatakashi turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Tatakashi.

Colossus is looking to sinch up a triangle. Tatakashi throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Colossus's body to avoid the submission. Colossus has instead reached around Tatakashi's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Colossus arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
