PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stanley Ipkiss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Orlov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Stanley Ipkiss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Orlov!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Igor Prikhodko and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ipkiss connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Orlov throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ipkiss sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Ipkiss scores with a takedown into Orlov's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ipkiss is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Orlov is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ipkiss is controlling him.

Ipkiss drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ipkiss jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Orlov is looking for a triangle but Ipkiss pushes his legs off easily.

Ipkiss is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Orlov shoots for a double leg takedown but Ipkiss sprawls well. He's pushed Orlov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Orlov just misses with a punch to the body.

Orlov gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ipkiss stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Orlov swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ipkiss is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Orlov is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Orlov has escaped and now he's on top!
Ipkiss wants to sweep but no luck.
Ipkiss manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Orlov manages to get himself to full guard.
Orlov is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Orlov seems to be working for a kimura but Ipkiss defends the submission attempt.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Orlov throws a looping overhand right but Ipkiss ducks down to avoid it.
Ipkiss misses with a series of wild punches.
Orlov takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Ipkiss looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Ipkiss shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Ipkiss seems to be looking for submissions.

Ipkiss looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Ipkiss uses his free foot to push down on Orlov's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Orlov.
Orlov is desperately trying to improve his position but Ipkiss has a good base and remains in mount.

Ipkiss is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Orlov is surviving well by controlling Ipkiss's body position as best he can.
Orlov is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Ipkiss has hold of Orlov's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Orlov manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Ipkiss is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Orlov has managed to escape the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ipkiss stands and throws Orlov's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Ipkiss goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Orlov has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Ipkiss but great work by Orlov.

Ipkiss is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Orlov is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Ipkiss not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Ipkiss is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Orlov is aware though and is defending well.

Ipkiss shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Orlov's guard.

Ipkiss has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Orlov is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Ipkiss yanks on the arm and Orlov is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Ipkiss.
