PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Matt Foster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ruud Van Sperr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Van Sperr has chosen Kagrra, - Utakata as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Ruud Van Sperr told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Matt Foster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ruud Van Sperr!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paul Aken and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Foster fails to land the takedown.
Foster keeps the fight on the outside.
Van Sperr displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Foster.
Van Sperr tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Foster is able to avoid easily.
Foster fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Foster. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Van Sperr closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Van Sperr wants to clinch up but Foster keeps it at a distance.

Foster gets a takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Van Sperr tries to get to full guard but Foster has control of the leg.
Foster misses with a head shot. Van Sperr uses the momentum to regain guard.
Foster throwing strikes but missing.

Foster thows a big elbow that misses.
Van Sperr is trying to control the position but Foster postures up.
Van Sperr working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Foster.
Foster wants to control from the top but Van Sperr keeps moving.
Van Sperr is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Van Sperr sizes up Foster with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Van Sperr misses with an uppercut. Foster saw that one coming.
Foster circles away from the clinch attempt.
Van Sperr lands a body shot.
Foster is breathing heavily.
Van Sperr lands with a cross.

Van Sperr rushes Foster and presses him up against the cage.

Van Sperr breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Foster shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Van Sperr is looking to improve his position.
Foster trying to pass the guard but Van Sperr defending well.
Van Sperr is trying to stand.
The fighters are battling for position here. Van Sperr manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Van Sperr wants to stand and escape but Foster is having none of it.

Foster is looking to work some ground and pound but Van Sperr has wrist control.
Van Sperr wants to sweep here but Foster controlling him for the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Van Sperr fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Foster is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Van Sperr lands a nice leg kick that just misses Foster's sensitive parts.
Van Sperr thuds a left hand into Foster's body.
Van Sperr misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Van Sperr tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Foster paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Van Sperr displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.


Foster is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Van Sperr throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Foster stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Van Sperr tests Foster's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Oh Foster is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Foster takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Van Sperr cracks Foster with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Van Sperr has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Foster to stand back up!
Van Sperr connects with a superb combination that knocks Foster out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Van Sperr before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Foster!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Ruud Van Sperr!
