Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Ung (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Romario Baixinho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kevin Ung!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Romario Baixinho!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Alexandre Firmino and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baixinho tries to clinch there but Ung circles away.
Baixinho fails with an attempt to clinch.

Baixinho moves in looking to clinch but Ung pushes him off.
Ung closes the distance and clinches up with Baixinho, looking for a takedown. Ung pushes Baixinho against the cage but Baixinho circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ung changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Baixinho tries to avoid it but Ung manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Baixinho to the ground. Baixinho escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Baixinho lands an uppercut.
A head punch on the inside from Baixinho fails to land.
Baixinho lands a right hand that snaps the head of Ung backwards.


It looks like Kevin Ung has been cut.
Baixinho swings wildly with an uppercut but Ung uses good head movement to avoid it.
Baixinho makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Ung tries to score a body lock takedown but Baixinho shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Ung wants the takedown. Baixinho is fighting it off but Ung persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Baixinho's guard against the cage.

Baixinho can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ung controls the pace.
Ung trying to control the position from guard on top but Baixinho is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ung prevents Baixinho from getting back to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Baixinho is looking to stand back up but Ung counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Baixinho.
Ung is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Ung gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Ung shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Baixinho but Baixinho pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Baixinho closes the distance looking to clinch

and Ung counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Ung wants to control from the top but Baixinho keeps moving.
Baixinho is wriggling around but Ung manages to pass to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Still in half guard, Ung seems content to control.

Ung trying to control the action but Baixinho is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ung is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Baixinho is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Baixinho can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Kevin Ung.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ung is defended easily by Baixinho.
Kevin Ung is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Baixinho closes the distance but Ung moves to the side

and Ung counters with a takedown into side control.

Ung tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Ung cracks Baixinho with a big right hand but Baixinho just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Ung is looking to take a break and control but Baixinho is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Baixinho darts in trying to clinch

and Ung counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Kevin Ung overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ung trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Baixinho can't keep his opponent in guard - Ung advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Ung performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Ung seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Baixinho for as long as he can get away with.

and Ung decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Baixinho's guard.

Baixinho really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ung. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ung seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Kevin Ung is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ung, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
