PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jin Sen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Cornwall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sen comes into the arena with Let It Rock blaring out of the sound system. Cornwall has chosen The Lucky Bullets "Folsom Prison Blues" as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jin Sen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Ken Cornwall!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Leandro Rodrigues and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cornwall avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Cornwall throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Cornwall works the jab nicely.
Sen throws a jab when Cornwall was well out of range.
Sen misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cornwall.
Sen looks to land a combination but Cornwall avoids it well.
Sen is looking to chop away at Cornwall's legs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Sen scores with a push kick.

Sen swings away with a body shot that misses
and Cornwall cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Sen scores with a punch to the head.
Cornwall ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Cornwall defending well as Sen loads up on a big left hand.
Sen ducks under a wild hook from Cornwall.
Some bone on bone action there as Cornwall checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Jin Sen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cornwall comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Sen pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Cornwall swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Sen throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Sen displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Cornwall throws out the jab.
Cornwall waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Sen.
Cornwall shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sen pinned against the cage. Sen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Sen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Sen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cornwall.
Sen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Sen lands a high kick!
Sen misses with a hook.
Cornwall misses with a hook.
Cornwall lands a jab-cross combination.


It looks like Jin Sen has been cut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cornwall shoots in but no luck this time.
Jin Sen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ken Cornwall.
Good leg kick by Sen there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Sen throws the left hand but Cornwall avoids the punch easily.
Sen with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Sen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Cornwall keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Sen.
Sen is looking to land body kicks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jin Sen will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Jin Sen's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Cornwall blocks a head kick by Sen.
Sen scores with a jab to the head.
Sen looks to land a right hand but Cornwall moved out of range.
Cornwall jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Sen displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Cornwall throws out the jab.
Cornwall throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sen lands with a good body shot.
Sen swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Cornwall's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Cornwall duly obliges.
Cornwall moves out of range of the body kick from Sen.
Sen misses with a double jab
and Cornwall cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Nice sprawl there from Sen as Cornwall shoots in.
Sen scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Cornwall doesn't seem bothered though.
A jab from Cornwall finds it's way through Sen's defenses.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Sen lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Cornwall has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Cornwall and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Sen throws a hook but Cornwall avoids it easily.
Sen wants to land a leg kick but Cornwall is out of range.

Cornwall listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Sen throws a combination that misses
and Cornwall counters with a stiff right hand.
Cornwall scores with a hook to the body. Sen takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Sen misses with a straight left.
Sen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cornwall was well out of range. Poor timing from Sen.
A low kick from Sen misses
and Cornwall counters with a right hand to the body.
Cornwall misses with a looping right.

Cornwall throws a looping overhand right but Sen ducks down to avoid it.
Cornwall jabs at Sen's body.
Sen throws a hook but Cornwall blocks it.
Cornwall uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sen.
Cornwall slips a jab and a cross from Sen.
Cornwall defending well as Sen loads up on a big left hand.
Sen's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Sen duly obliges.
Cornwall avoids the head kick by Sen.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Ken Cornwall will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!


Sen loads up on a big right hand but Cornwall slips the punch.
Cornwall tests Sen's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Sen pivots, looking for a leg kick but Cornwall is out of range and Sen settles back down.
Sen goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Sen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cornwall manages to avoid it.
Sen uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cornwall.
Sen throws a quick inside leg kick.

Sen throws out a loose jab but Cornwall uses good head movement to avoid it.
A head kick by Sen misses
and Cornwall counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Sen thinking.
Cornwall uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sen.
Nice defenses there by Sen.
Sen throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Cornwall counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cornwall.
Sen lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cornwall!
Cornwall is trying desperately to improve position.

Cornwall sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Cornwall actively working from the bottom here.
Sen is controlling the pace.
Cornwall is trying to maintain the position but Sen is very close to passing his half guard.
Cornwall makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Cornwall.
Cornwall is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Cornwall is looking for a triangle but Sen pushes his legs off easily.
Cornwall seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sen wants to control from the top but Cornwall keeps moving.

Cornwall tries to get back to half guard but can't.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Cornwall seems a little lost for a moment, as Sen dominates the positioning.
Cornwall struggling a bit here.
Sen controlling the position from side mount.
Cornwall tries to buck Sen off but Sen is having none of it.
Cornwall trying to remain calm as Sen controls from the top position.
Cornwall gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Cornwall is staying active underneath Sen, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Cornwall wants to get back to full guard.

Ken Cornwall comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Cornwall has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
