PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Freddy Cordova (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zurkumi Tahir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tahir shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cordova napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Cordova is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Tahir's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Despite being in the dominant position, Zurkumi Tahir just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Cordova lands with a kick to the temple. Tahir shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Cordova lands a really nice looking cross but Tahir seems unphased.

Tahir blocks a head kick by Cordova.
Cordova stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Cordova lands with a kick to the temple. Tahir shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Cordova tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Cordova plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Cordova throws a sloppy head kick and Tahir moves out of range easily.
Freddy Cordova seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cordova steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Tahir.
Cordova goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Tahir shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Tahir stops Cordova from getting back to his feet.
Tahir wants to take a breather but Cordova is having none of it.

That was a close round but I would say that Freddy Cordova will probably get the nod.

Cordova pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cordova throws a head kick but Tahir moves out of range.

Tahir closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tahir lands in his opponent's guard.
Tahir is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Tahir advances position into side control!
Cordova is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Tahir is controlling him well.
Tahir remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Cordova uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Tahir has time to react.
Cordova cracks Tahir with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Tahir takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Cordova tries a head kick but it misses.
Cordova smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Cordova pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A jab from Tahir misses.
Cordova throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Tahir on the side of the head.

Cordova parries the strikes from Tahir easily there. Tahir is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Cordova to escape.
Cordova is pushing Tahir's head away, looking to escape. Tahir manages to hold on to the position though.

Cordova lands with a straight right. Tahir didn't see that one coming.
Tahir shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Tahir misses with a straight left.
The fighters circle momentarily. Cordova darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Tahir misses with an uppercut.
Tahir takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Tahir throws a jab when Cordova was well out of range.
Tahir avoids the head kick by Cordova.
Cordova lands a high kick!
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Cordova, as that shot connected.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Cordova! Tahir is out on his feet! Cordova rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Tahir is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Tahir is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
