Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Steve Zaretski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Nowka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nowka has chosen I Get Knocked Down as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Zaretski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Nowka! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Alexandre Firmino and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A combination from Zaretski does no damage. Nowka looks to throw the jab but Zaretski is out of range. Nowka misses with a straight right. Nowka leaves Zaretski with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Nowka misses with a wild body shot. Nowka throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Zaretski misses with a body shot
and Nowka counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Nowka slaps away a takedown attempt from Zaretski, before circling back to the center of the mat. Nowka forces Zaretski back against the cage and clinches. Nowka lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zaretski can't break the clinch.
A nice right hand lands inside from Nowka. Zaretski is trying to force a seperation but Nowka has the dominant position. Nowka breaks the clinch.
Some wild striking there from Nowka.
Zaretski keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Nowka. Nowka scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. A big right from Nowka misses. A looping hook to the body misses from Zaretski. Nowka does a little dance to reset his feet. A slow jab from Nowka misses its intended target. Zaretski swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Nowka tries to close the distance and clinch but Zaretski swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Zaretski throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Nowka is looking to clinch but Zaretski is avoiding it.
Zaretski looks to throw the jab but Nowka is out of range. A big right from Nowka misses. Nowka misses with a two punch combination.
Zaretski throws a head kick that misses. Nowka jabbing away but nothing is landing. Matt Nowka is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Nowka scores with a jab. Zaretski ducks right into an uppercut from Nowka.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zaretski swings and misses with a shot to the body and Zaretski takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Zaretski is rocked! Nowka throws the left hand but Zaretski avoids the punch easily. Zaretski slips a jab from Nowka. Nowka getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Oh Zaretski is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Zaretski with a lazy takedown attempt and Nowka counters with a nice uppercut. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Zaretski. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nowka throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Nowka dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Zaretski seems to have got his legs back now. Nowka tests Zaretski's chin there with a solid looking shot. Nowka looks to land a right hand but Zaretski moved out of range. Matt Nowka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nowka tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Zaretski was well out of range. Poor timing from Nowka. Nowka connects with a nice looking jab.
Zaretski walks into a stiff left hand from Nowka. Zaretski slips a straight right by Nowka. Nowka cracks Zaretski with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Zaretski tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Nowka pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Zaretski is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Matt Nowka!
