Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hughes scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Hughes wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Faroni, who protects the arm well.

Hughes thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Hughes is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Faroni is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hughes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Faroni tries to avoid it but Hughes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Faroni to the ground. Faroni escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Faroni moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Faroni misses with a low kick.

Faroni throws a sloppy head kick and Hughes moves out of range easily.
Hughes shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Faroni but Faroni pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Faroni throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Hughes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Hughes won't let Faroni get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Hughes moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Faroni has worked his arm free - good work by Faroni!
Hughes wants to control for a moment but Faroni uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Hughes is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Faroni is just riding it out for now. Hughes eventually gives up the hold.
Hughes is looking to take a break and control but Faroni is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Faroni is trying to stand.
Faroni blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hughes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Hughes is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Faroni sees it coming and defends easily.
Hughes sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Faroni defending well though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Matthias Hughes will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Hughes shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Faroni as he jumps to the side.

Benny Faroni has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Matthias Hughes.
Faroni lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Faroni throws a right and a left that Hughes avoids nicely.
Faroni swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Benny Faroni is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Faroni lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hughes backs up against the cage.
Hughes fails with the takedown.
Faroni's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Faroni duly obliges.
Faroni throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nice jab there from Faroni.
Faroni stalks Hughes and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hughes's face. Hughes staggers backwards, shaken.

Hughes is rocked!
Hughes is breathing heavily.

Hughes takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Hughes is still on wobbly legs! Can Faroni finish him?
A head kick misses from Faroni.
Hughes fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hughes seems to have recovered his senses.
A head kick from Faroni lands but Hughes takes it in his stride.
Benny Faroni is winning the standup battle so far.
Faroni lands with a right that hurts Hughes. Hughes looks to clinch but Faroni throws a short knee that drops Hughes. This one is all over!
