The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Desouza tries to clinch but uthaisk moves out of range.
Eric Desouza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

uthaisk shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

uthaisk is fighting off a takedown attempt but Desouza is just too persistent for him and manages to trip uthaisk to the mat. uthaisk regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Desouza seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down uthaisk for as long as he can get away with.

Desouza moves in looking to clinch but uthaisk pushes him off.

uthaisk fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Desouza sprawls well initially but uthaisk persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
uthaisk is looking to take a break and control but Desouza is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

thuansh uthaisk showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

uthaisk postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Desouza is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of uthaisk, into his guard.

Well uthaisk has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
