Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Max Cavalera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Hawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jonathan Hawkins!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawkins stuffs the takedown.
Hawkins shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

so Cavalera counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Cavalera stays in close to Hawkins's body and controls the position.
Hawkins keeping moving, preventing Cavalera from controlling successfully.
Cavalera wants to stand but Hawkins has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Cavalera trying to control but Hawkins is working from the bottom.

Let's hope that Hawkins has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Hawkins looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cavalera with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Hawkins is keen to just control but Cavalera is a slippery customer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hawkins closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cavalera circles away.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hawkins's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Cavalera gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Cavalera has one foot on Hawkins's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Cavalera has picked Hawkins up - he's going for a ride! Cavalera dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Cavalera on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Cavalera is trying to stand up here but Hawkins is controlling him well.
Hawkins perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Hawkins wants to pass to mount but Cavalera is defending the position.

Hawkins seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cavalera moves into full guard.
Cavalera wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Hawkins trying to control but Cavalera is working from the bottom.
Hawkins is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
