PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jian Lieu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel LaRusso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lieu comes to the cage accompanied by "Da Rockwilder" by Method Man and Redman. LaRusso has chosen Joe Eposito - You're the best as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
LaRusso feints and then cracks Lieu's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Lieu down.
LaRusso scores with a nice strike.
Good leg kick by LaRusso there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
LaRusso misses with a two punch combination.
LaRusso swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Danga de danga de dang - LaRusso scores with a four punch combination!
LaRusso misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Lieu lands with an overhand left.

It looks like Daniel LaRusso has been cut.
Lieu tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but LaRusso was well out of range. Poor timing from Lieu.
A solid leg kick lands there for LaRusso.
LaRusso blocks a jab.
LaRusso takes one to the chin there.
This has been an exciting period of action!
LaRusso rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lieu moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
LaRusso throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Lieu stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Lieu dodges the punch combination from LaRusso.
LaRusso paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
A head kick misses from LaRusso.
Lieu drops his hands momentarily and LaRusso takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
LaRusso lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
LaRusso plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

It looks like Jian Lieu has been cut.
Lieu thuds his right hand into LaRusso's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Daniel LaRusso seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lieu has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Lieu misses the shot to the body.
Nice uppercut lands for LaRusso. That snapped Lieu's head back.
LaRusso defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lieu.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

LaRusso lands with a hook. Lieu tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Lieu rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but LaRusso moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and LaRusso counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Lieu throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
LaRusso looks to throw the jab but Lieu is out of range.
LaRusso misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lieu swinging wildly here.
LaRusso fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
LaRusso scores with a kick to the midsection.
Lieu thows a leg kick but LaRusso checks it
and LaRusso counters with a stiff right hand.
Lieu swings away with a body shot that misses
and LaRusso connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Lieu swings for the body but LaRusso moves out of range.
LaRusso moves into range and connects with a jab.
Lieu lands a head shot.
LaRusso stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
LaRusso cracks Lieu with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
LaRusso is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Lieu had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
LaRusso misses with an uppercut.
LaRusso chopping away at his opponent's legs.
LaRusso misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
LaRusso bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Lieu's head backwards.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
LaRusso throws a left and a right that both miss
and LaRusso takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
LaRusso throws a head kick but Lieu moves out of range.
LaRusso misses the shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel LaRusso dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Lieu is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by LaRusso.

LaRusso misses with a few strikes there.
LaRusso throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Lieu takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
LaRusso throws out a powerful jab.
Lieu takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Lieu is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Lieu looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

LaRusso slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

LaRusso lands a nice looking kick to the body. Lieu takes a step back to recover.
Daniel LaRusso seems to be getting the better of the standup.

LaRusso throws a right hand that Lieu ducks under and follows up with a left that Lieu also avoids with ease.

Lieu takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Lieu throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends LaRusso stumbling backwards into the cage! LaRusso bounces back off the cage towards Lieu, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Lieu lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Lieu celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
