PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Carl Ramos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brooks Staal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ramos comes to the cage accompanied by I've Been Down. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carl Ramos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brooks Staal!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Chris Downing and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ramos rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Staal moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Carl Ramos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Staal misses with a double jab
and Ramos counters with a right hand to the body.
Ramos throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Ramos misses with a wild body shot.
Ramos scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Ramos scores with a shot to the body.
Staal takes a body punch but keeps moving.
A slow jab from Ramos misses its intended target.
Ramos ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Staal moves away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ramos throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A punch combination from Ramos misses.
Ramos stuns Staal with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Ramos fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Staal needs to keep his hands up - Ramos had a free shot at his head there.
Ramos throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Staal stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Staal looks gassed!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Ramos dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Ramos connects with the punch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ramos falls off balance throwing a combination
and Staal counters with a two punch combo.
Ramos fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Staal manages to avoid it.
Ramos scores with a hook to the body. Staal takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Ramos lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Staal moves out of range as Ramos strikes.
Staal misses with a combination

and Ramos counters with a crisp one two that drops Staal! Ramos thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Staal to his feet! Staal is in big trouble!


Staal is rocked!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ramos fakes the leg kick and throws a superman punch. It's knocked Staal out cold! Brutal finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Carl Ramos!
