Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Sheppard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Jackson!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Sheppard can pounce on him.
Jackson connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Jackson walks into a jab.
Jackson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sheppard's waist but Sheppard gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jackson off to one side.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Sheppard. Jackson shrugs it off though.
Jackson throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Sheppard misses with a head kick.
Jackson throws a body punch but Sheppard moves out of range.
Sheppard avoids the body shot from Jackson.
Jackson throws a hook but Sheppard avoids it easily.
Sheppard uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jackson.
Sheppard misses with an uppercut. Jackson saw that one coming.
Sheppard lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jackson circles away quickly and effectively.
Jackson throws out a loose jab but Sheppard uses good head movement to avoid it.
Jackson scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Sheppard doesn't seem bothered though.
Jackson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Sheppard looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Jackson smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Sheppard stuffs the takedown.
Jackson wants to clinch.
Sheppard throws a body kick that misses.

Jackson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sheppard as he avoids it easily.
John Sheppard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Jackson.
Sheppard tries to land a leg kick but Jackson saw it coming and moves away.
Jackson tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Sheppard takes a swing at Jackson's ribcage but misses.
Jackson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Jackson lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Sheppard has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Sheppard and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Jackson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Nice defenses there by Jackson.
A combination from Sheppard does no damage.

Jackson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The strikes coming from Jackson are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Jackson wants to control the pace but Sheppard is squirming around nicely.

Jackson cracks Sheppard with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Jackson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Sheppard to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Sheppard shrugs it off.
Sheppard on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Sheppard tries to get out of the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jackson throws some wild stikes that Sheppard manages to avoid easily.

Sheppard knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jackson on the ground.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Jackson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sheppard displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Jackson throws out the jab.

Jackson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jackson connects with a nice short shot to Sheppard's temple.

Jackson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Sheppard takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Jackson gets in close and instigates a clinch.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Jackson creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Jackson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Jackson wants to control from the top but Sheppard keeps moving.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Sheppard keeping moving, preventing Jackson from controlling successfully.
Sheppard will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Jackson looking to sit in guard and control but Sheppard gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Sheppard wants to get up but he can't break Jackson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Joe Jackson.
Jackson tries to clinch there but Sheppard circles away.
Jackson connects with a crisp jab.

Jackson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Let's hope that Jackson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
John Sheppard has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

I've got Jackson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
