PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Juan Kombat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dee Nice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kombat comes into the arena with Immortal Corrupter blaring out of the sound system. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juan Kombat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dee Nice!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice fails with a takedown attempt.
Kombat misses with an uppercut.
Nice looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kombat is fending him off so far but Nice persists. Nope, Kombat circles away and we're back to standing.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Nice shoots in for a takedown but Kombat shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Juan Kombat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dee Nice.
Kombat thows a body shot but no joy.
Nice shoots in and drives through. Kombat sprawls well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kombat cracks Nice with a right hand to the side of the head.

Kombat knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nice on the ground.
Nice wants to stand and escape but instead Kombat has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Kombat has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Nice keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kombat.
Kombat misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Nice scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Nice trying to mount his opponent but Kombat defends it.
Kombat on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kombat tries to get out of the position.
Nice wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kombat keeps working.

Nice is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kombat defends it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kombat is trying is best to control the position here.

Nice wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kombat keeps working.
Nice not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Nice tries to stand and escape but Kombat is controlling the position.

Nice is looking for a kimura but Kombat is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nice to get the leverage.
Nice is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Nice drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Kombat manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nice has Kombat in his guard.
Nice looks gassed!
Nice preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kombat throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Nice avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Nice is trying to keep Kombat in close.
Kombat trying to stand up but can't free himself from Nice's guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Nice looking to control but Kombat passes into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Juan Kombat will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Nice changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kombat looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Kombat tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Nice tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Nice stands up and beckons Kombat to his feet.
A slow jab from Kombat misses its intended target.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nice wants to clinch up but Kombat keeps it at a distance.
Kombat misses with a few strikes there.
Nice throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
A punch lands to the side of Nice 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Nice throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kombat's waist but Kombat gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Nice off to one side.

Nice closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nice lands in his opponent's guard.
Nice passes Kombat's left leg - he's now in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kombat is trying to get back to full guard.

Nice is looking for a kimura but Kombat is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nice to get the leverage.
Nice works his foot free and advances to mount.
Nice moves to take his opponent's back.

Nice is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

I really don't envy Kombat right now.

Nice is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Kombat is defending well though. Nice let's go of the attempt for now.
Nice is breathing heavily.
Kombat is in bad spot here.

I really don't envy Kombat right now.
Kombat just trying to survive but Nice is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Dee Nice showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Nice shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kombat sprawls well. Kombat wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Nice gets slowly back to his feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kombat.
Kombat rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nice moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Kombat fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Kombat throws a lazy right hand but Nice sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Kombat throws a jab but it's blocked by Nice.
Kombat throws a series of punches but Nice avoids them all with ease.
Kombat throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Kombat slaps away a takedown attempt from Nice, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A punch combination from Kombat misses.
Kombat connects with a crisp jab.
Nice tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kombat swivels and escapes.
Kombat misses with a wild combination.
Kombat is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kombat keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Juan Kombat showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Kombat has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
