Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Crichton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roseanne Barr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roseanne Barr is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barr pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Crichton throws a head kick but Barr moves out of range.

Barr displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Crichton throws out the jab.
Barr is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Crichton.

Barr shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Crichton's guard.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Crichton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Crichton escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Barr gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Crichton has his foot on Barr's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Barr works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Crichton tries to land a front kick but Barr steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Barr has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Crichton.
Crichton stalks Barr and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Barr's face. Barr staggers backwards, shaken.

Barr gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Crichton thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Barr is breathing heavily.

Crichton drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Crichton jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Crichton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Barr swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Barr has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Crichton creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Barr's defenses.
Barr is pressed up against the cage. Crichton has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Barr down to the mat. Barr avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Barr lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Crichton!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Crichton is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Barr defends well.

I would just about give that final round to Roseanne Barr.
Well Crichton has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
