The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryhmes tries to clinch up.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Perez, as that shot connected.
Ryhmes tries for a takedown but Perez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ryhmes tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ryhmes closes this distance looking for a takedown but Perez circles away.

Perez drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Ryhmes wants to get back to his feet but Perez is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Perez wants to pass the guard but Ryhmes is keeping the position.

Perez makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Perez chips away with some ground and pound.
Perez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Perez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ryhmes is keeping the position for now.
Ryhmes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Perez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Perez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Perez uses his free foot to push down on Ryhmes's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ryhmes.

Perez looking to finish Ryhmes with some ground and pound. This is bad for Ryhmes!
Ryhmes is bucking up trying to escape but Perez cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Perez lands a nice shot to the head.
Perez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Perez loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Ryhmes scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Perez land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Perez stands and salutes the crowd.
