The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Luffy closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Luffy lands in his opponent's guard.
Volik looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Luffy trying to control but Volik is working from the bottom.
Luffy in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Luffy wants to control from the top but Volik keeps moving.
Luffy works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Volik is staying active underneath Luffy, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Volik is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Luffy controlling the pace.
Luffy's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Luffy missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Luffy has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Volik defend it? Luffy steps over the head and cranks it - Volik is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Luffy!
