The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Patton.

Patton looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for James!
James is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Patton working away from the top, dropping strikes.
James is trying to escape the mount.
Patton sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
James regains half guard.

Patton wants to free his trapped foot but James is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Patton wants to work for an arm triangle but James is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Patton thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Patton lands with a punch from half guard.
James keeps control of the position for the meantime.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
James is looking to control Patton's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can James avoid being mounted?
James is positioning himself well to prevent Patton advancing to mount.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Patton lands a nice short elbow.
Patton missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Patton moves into full mount! James won't be happy about that!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Patton with a couple of short strikes.
Patton prevents James from getting the reversal.
You get the feeling that James really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Patton wants to control the pace but James is squirming around nicely.
Patton lands with some strikes.
James tries to hold on but Patton postures up.
Patton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Patton lands a big elbow.

Patton is working for a guillotine from mount but James frees his head quite easily.
Patton is breathing heavily.
James is trying to escape the mount.
Patton working away from the top, dropping strikes.
James tries to hold on but Patton pushes him away.
BOOM! Patton connects with a massive shot to the dome!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Patton goes for an armbar but James turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from James.
Patton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Patton looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
James trying to control but Patton is working from the bottom.

James stands up from Patton's guard - James perhaps looking for a knockout.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
No luck with that takedown attempt from James.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Patton dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


James tries to close the distance and clinch up but Patton swats him away and circles back towards the center.
James seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Patton shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! James is backing up but Patton catches him with a final right hook that drops him! James covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Patton Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mike Patton!
