Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bj Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronnie Haawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ronnie Haawa will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Haawa swivels and escapes.
Penn swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Haawa slaps away a takedown attempt from Penn, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Penn shoots in looking for a takedown. Haawa tries to sprawl out of it but Penn keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Haawa manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bj Penn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Penn looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Penn rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Haawa moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Penn fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Penn shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Haawa pinned against the cage. Haawa gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Haawa uses his free foot to push down on Penn's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Penn.
Haawa thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Haawa tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Penn is breathing heavily.

Penn displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Haawa.

and Haawa holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Haawa ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Haawa no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Haawa is controlling Penn's posture.
Haawa looking to hit a scissor sweep but Penn is one step ahead there.
Penn wants to control from the top but Haawa keeps moving.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Penn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Haawa swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Haawa pulls Penn in close to prevent any damage.
Haawa's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Haawa manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

and Haawa counters with an outside leg kick.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Haawa is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Haawa is looking to pass Penn's guard but actually Penn recovers to full guard.

Penn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Haawa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Penn blocking the ground and pound attempt from Haawa.
Haawa works his way into side control.
Haawa slows the pace down.
Haawa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Penn keeps working.

Haawa moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Haawa tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Haawa is working to tighten is grip on Penn's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Penn has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Haawa is really squeezing tight and eventually Penn passes out! Haawa breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
