PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gold Mine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Meca Dozier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mine kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Kardinal Offishall - Ol' Time Killin' . Meca Dozier has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gold Mine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Meca Dozier!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Daniel Blasius and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dozier gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Dozier manages to pull guard.
Mine throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dozier works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Mine avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Mine trying to control but Dozier is working from the bottom.
Dozier is looking to sweep but instead, Mine has passed into half guard.
Mine trying to control from half guard but Dozier is working away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dozier missing with punches from the bottom.
Dozier keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mine tries to pass the half guard into mount. Dozier knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Dozier tries to clinch but Mine moves out of range.
Mine really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Dozier digs a good body shot into Mine's ribs.
Dozier shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mine as he avoids it easily.

Dozier shoots in and bounces Mine off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Dozier prevents Mine from getting back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mine is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Mine wants to sweep but no luck.

Dozier decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
The fight stays on the outside here - Dozier looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
A head kick misses from Dozier.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Some wild striking there from Dozier.
Dozier is looking to score with low kicks.

Dozier closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mine did well to prevent Dozier getting side control.
Dozier is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Dozier is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Mine still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Mine has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Dozier is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Mine decides to stand back up. Mine steps back and let's Dozier get back to his feet.
Dozier shoots in but Mine avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Dozier throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Meca Dozier dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Mine shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mine showed some decent athleticism there.
Dozier throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Mine is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Dozier!
Mine trying to control but Dozier is having none of it.
Mine with the ground and pound from mount.

Mine takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Dozier flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Mine looking to control but Dozier is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Dozier throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Mine controlling his opponent.
Mine postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Dozier looks a forlorn figure.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dozier is in all sorts of trouble here.
You get the feeling that Dozier really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Dozier is breathing heavily.
Mine with a couple of short strikes.
Dozier really wants to buck Mine off and get back to his feet.
Mine prevents Dozier from getting the reversal.
Mine trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Dozier is trying to escape the mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dozier is trying to stand up.
Dozier really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mine. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mine controlling from the full mount.
Mine seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Dozier for as long as he can get away with.
Dozier is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mine controlling from the full mount.
Dozier is trying to stand up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mine content just to control the position here.
The referee warns Dozier that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gold Mine dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Mine keeps the fight on the outside.
Mine misses with a kick to the body.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mine.
Dozier misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dozier avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Dozier looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mine flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Mine trying to control from the bottom.
Mine throws a strike from the bottom but Dozier passes into side control!
Dozier throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Dozier takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Dozier with the ground and pound but Mine regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Mine manages to get to full guard.
Mine is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dozier would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Mine escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dozier gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Dozier working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Mine is trying to control the position but Dozier postures up.

Dozier decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Dozier shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mine manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mine pushes Dozier off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Mine lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Mine.


It looks like Meca Dozier has been cut.

Dozier gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mine to score an easy takedown into full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dozier is striking off his back. Mine thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Mine controlling the action here.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dozier wants to get back to his feet.
Mine performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
Gold Mine showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Mine has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
