Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ellis has chosen Applejuice by Taintstick as his entrance music. Ellis has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason Ellis!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown fails to land the takedown.
Brown scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Brown misses with a takedown attempt - Ellis sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Brown drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Brown uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ellis.

Brown darts in and clinches Ellis up against the cage.
Brown is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Ellis working hard to break the clinch.
Ellis looks gassed!
Still in the clinch, Ellis scores with a nice short uppercut.
Ellis is trying to force a seperation but Brown has the dominant position.

Brown gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Ellis is staying active underneath Brown, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Brown trying to mount his opponent but Ellis defends it.
Well, if Brown is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Brown moves nicely into side control.
Brown wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ellis keeps working.

Brown thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Brown tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Brown tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Brown cracks Ellis with a big right hand but Ellis just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ellis is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Brown wants to stand but Ellis is controlling his arm.
Brown trying to control the position but Ellis is working away.
Brown wants to control for a moment but Ellis uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Brown is looking to take a break and control but Ellis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brown is really struggling to control Ellis but he's trying to hold on to the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Brown shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ellis sprawls well. Ellis wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Brown gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ellis works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Ellis defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Brown.
Jason Ellis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ellis digs a good body shot into Brown's ribs.
Ellis works the jab nicely.
Brown is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ellis has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Brown.

Brown jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ellis walks away with a smile on his face. Brown gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Brown fails with a takedown attempt.
Ellis swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Brown.
Ellis is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Ellis getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Brown could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
A solid body kick from Brown.

Brown takes the fight into the clinch.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Ellis has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Brown stalling against the cage.
Brown blocking some punches.
Ellis stops a takedown attempt from Brown.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Ellis lands a right hand.
Ellis gets underhooks to prevent Brown's takedown attempt.

Brown blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Ellis misses with the head strike.
Brown tries to pull guard but Ellis holds him up against the cage and eventually Brown drops back down to his feet.

Brown might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Ellis stands up from Brown's guard - Ellis perhaps looking for a knockout.
Ellis fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Brown tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ellis sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Brown somewhat.
Brown walks into a straight right hand from Ellis.

Ellis shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ellis was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Ellis is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Ellis has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Brown's face.
Brown avoids a series of strikes thrown by Ellis.
Brown can't escape the position.
BOOM! Ellis connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Ellis breaks from Brown's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Ellis looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Ellis lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Ellis avoids the attempt from Brown to control.
Ellis is landing with some decent strikes but Brown is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Ellis lands a big elbow.
Ellis is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Ellis scoring with strikes but Brown is staying in there.
Brown regains half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Ellis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Brown has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Brown there as he acknowledges the shot.
Brown closes the distance and clinches up with Ellis, looking for a takedown. Brown pushes Ellis against the cage but Ellis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Ellis throws a combination that misses

and Brown counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ellis's guard now.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Brown throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ellis works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Ellis keeping moving, preventing Brown from controlling successfully.
Brown would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Brown wants to pass the guard but Ellis is keeping the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ellis misses with an uppercut. Brown saw that one coming.
Ellis throws a right and a left that both miss.
Brown fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Brown shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ellis as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Brown. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Brown dives in and grabs Ellis's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ellis pushes down on Brown's head and hops out.
Brown walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Brown uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Ellis.
Brown misses with a takedown attempt
and Ellis counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Ellis scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Brown shoots in but no luck this time.
Brown is looking to slow Ellis down with leg kicks.
Brown throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Brown shoots in for a takedown but Ellis shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Brown walks into a straight right hand from Ellis.
Ellis lands a nice hook to Brown's body. Brown takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Brown throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ellis's waist but Ellis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Brown off to one side.
Brown shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ellis pinned against the cage. Ellis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Donk. Ellis catches Brown right on the button with a cross.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Brown.
Ellis with a jab.
Ellis jabs Brown right on the nose. Brown blinks but takes it well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ellis scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Brown looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ellis is fending him off so far but Brown persists. Nope, Ellis circles away and we're back to standing.
Ellis scores with a jab to the head.
Brown tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ellis defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Brown.
Ellis lands a jab to the nose.
Ellis misses with a hook.
Brown shoots in looking for a takedown. Ellis tries to sprawl out of it but Brown keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ellis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Brown will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Ellis misses with a wild combination.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Brown uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ellis.

Brown has managed to clinch.

Brown breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ellis is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Brown gets in close and instigates a clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Michael Brown.
I think Brown has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
