Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rennon Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Michel Perriera!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Paulo Santos and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perriera keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Silva shoots in for a double leg but Perriera sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Perriera leaves Silva with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rennon Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Silva is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Perriera shoots in and drives through. Silva sprawls well.

Perriera shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Perriera showed some decent athleticism there.

Perriera has picked Silva up - he's going for a ride! Perriera dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Perriera is taking a breather. Silva says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Let's hope that Perriera has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Perriera looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Silva is trying to stand up here but Perriera is controlling him well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Perriera closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Silva to the mat! Silva manages to get full guard.

Perriera decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Silva, up you get!

Perriera wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Silva, who protects the arm well.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Perriera stops Silva from getting back to his feet.
Perriera really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Perriera counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Perriera.

Perriera gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Silva is looking to stand up but Perriera isn't so interested in that idea.

Silva is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Silva drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Perriera gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Perriera turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Perriera manages to end up in side control.

You get the feeling that Silva really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Silva changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Perriera tries to avoid it but Silva manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Perriera to the ground. Perriera escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Perriera closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Silva seems a little lost for a moment, as Perriera dominates the positioning.

Perriera has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

and Perriera counters with a takedown into side control.
Perriera remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Perriera is looking to take a break and control but Silva is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Horrible takedown by Perriera or perhaps it was just good defense by Silva which made him look bad.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Perriera breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Perriera counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Silva!
Perriera breaks from Silva's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Silva's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Silva trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Perriera looking to finish Silva with some ground and pound. This is bad for Silva!
Silva really wants to buck Perriera off and get back to his feet.
Perriera has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Silva squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Perriera pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Perriera takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Silva is trying to stand but he's just given Perriera his back.
Silva looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.

Silva is trying to get back to his feet. He's worked up on to his knees and now he's on his feet with his head on the canvas, trying to shake Perriera off. It looks like it's working - Perriera slides off, much to his dismay, and we're back to standing! Silva displaying calm under pressure there.
Perriera throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Silva stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Well Perriera has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
