PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Takeshi Sendo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wan Tan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Sano and Taro Takaoka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Sendo shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Tan is trying to defend but Sendo finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Tan wants to get back to full guard.
Tan works his way to full guard. Good work.
Sendo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Tan is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sendo is aware though and is defending well.

Sendo seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Tan for as long as he can get away with.

Tan has his foot on Sendo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sendo works his way back into a safe position though.

Sendo thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Tan had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sendo defends it easily.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sendo wants to get up but he can't break Tan's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Tan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sendo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sendo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Sendo gets to his feet. Tan looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Sendo closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tan did well to prevent Sendo getting side control.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Sendo in particular looking to stall.

Sendo postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Tan looks a forlorn figure.

Tan is trying to reverse the position but instead Sendo has taken his back - oops!
Sendo tries to get the hooks in deep but Tan pushed the leg off.
Sendo doesn't have the hooks in and Tan manages to turn into his guard.
Sendo is pulling down on Tan's head. It's preventing any offense from Tan, at least for the moment.

Tan drops back looking for a leg! Sendo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sendo manages to kick Tan off! Tan jumps back into Sendo's guard.

A close round but Wan Tan will probably get the nod.
That's time! Sendo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Sendo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Tan can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Tan is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Tan srikes from the bottom but he's lost position and has given up his back.
Sendo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Will Sendo go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Oooh a big shot gets through from Sendo. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Tan tries to escape but Sendo has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sendo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Tan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sendo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
