And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Reuben Bet !
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Felipe Paraventi and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Soares slips a jab and a cross from Bet .
Bet stuns Soares with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Soares dodges the punch combination from Bet .
Soares keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Bet scores with the left hand. Soares knows he should have avoided that one.
Soares throws a series of punches but Bet avoids them all with ease.
Soares rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bet moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

A frustrated look appears on Bet 's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Soares jumps guard and drags Bet to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Bet tries to stand but Soares is controlling from the bottom.
Bet trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Soares is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bet defends well.

Soares has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Bet goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Rodrigo Soares will probably get the nod.

Soares gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Soares is trying to drag Bet to the mat but Bet just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Soares fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bet looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Bet stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Bet rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Soares moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Bet throws a right and a left that Soares avoids nicely.
Soares misses with a series of wild punches.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Soares is trying to trip Bet . He has hold of a leg but Bet is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Soares persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Soares is pushing down on Bet 's leg trying to pass to half guard. Bet is fighting to maintain full guard but Soares has managed to sneak the leg through.

Soares's corner calls for a 1-2. Soares obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Bet drops back looking for a leg! Soares is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Soares manages to kick Bet off! Bet jumps back into Soares's guard.
Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.
Bet wanted to stand there but Soares had control of the position.

Bet drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bet jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Soares is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Soares is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Soares has Bet pressed against the cage, preventing Bet from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Soares gets control of Bet 's arms and successfully pulls guard. Soares will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
