Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle McCoy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, John Paul!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kyle McCoy!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yasuomi Hirokawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCoy shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Paul sprawls well. Paul wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. McCoy gets slowly back to his feet.

McCoy shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Paul manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
McCoy trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

McCoy is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Paul is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Paul has escaped and now he's on top!
McCoy tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Paul tries to stand but McCoy is controlling from the bottom.

McCoy is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Paul defends well.

Paul trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

McCoy looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

McCoy is working an open guard so Paul takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Paul throws a good cross that connects.
McCoy tries for a takedown but Paul sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
McCoy changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Paul tries to avoid it but McCoy manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Paul to the ground. Paul escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
John Paul has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kyle McCoy.
McCoy dives in and grabs Paul's left leg, looking for a takedown. Paul pushes down on McCoy's head and hops out.
McCoy looks gassed!
McCoy shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A decent looking cross lands there for Paul.

McCoy is rocked!

Paul cracks McCoy with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends McCoy tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Paul pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! McCoy is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:08 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Paul!
