A fine choice. Lito Lapid could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Pasqualito Cortes's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cortes has a takedown stuffed.
Cortes tries for a takedown but Lapid sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Cortes dives in and grabs Lapid's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lapid pushes down on Cortes's head and hops out.
Lito Lapid has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pasqualito Cortes.

Cortes gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lapid to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Cortes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lapid gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Cortes is looking for a triangle but Lapid pushes his legs off easily.
Lapid wants to control from the top but Cortes keeps moving.

Lapid is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cortes is just riding it out for now. Lapid eventually gives up the hold.

Cortes is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lapid is aware though and is defending well.
Lapid stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cortes swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Cortes can't keep his opponent in guard - Lapid advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Lapid seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cortes does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
