The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ventura shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Ventura was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Ventura wants to control the pace but Weed is squirming around nicely.
Ventura takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Ventura unloads with some shots from mount but Weed bucks and avoids them well.
Weed is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ventura looking to ground and pound but Weed is blocking nicely.

Weed is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Weed is squirming around, avoiding Ventura's attempts to control the action.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Weed is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jonathan Weed will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Weed tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ventura swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Ventura lands a nice hook to Weed's body. Weed takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Ventura decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Weed tries to roll over but Ventura keeps him under control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

That was a close round but Jonathan Weed did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
