Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between RIco Marlazonez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kim Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kim Silva is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, RIco Marlazonez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Kim Silva!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Alyssa Summers and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Marlazonez defends it nicely.
Marlazonez blocks a head kick by Silva.
Silva shoots for a double leg takedown but Marlazonez sprawls well. He's pushed Silva's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Silva doesn't manage to clinch there - Marlazonez circles away.

Marlazonez has managed to clinch.

Silva ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Silva no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Marlazonez's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Marlazonez is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Marlazonez stands and steps away. Silva gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Marlazonez as he avoids it easily.
RIco Marlazonez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kim Silva.

and Marlazonez counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Silva!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Marlazonez avoids the attempt from Silva to control.

Silva is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Silva wants to control but Marlazonez is having none of it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee stands the fighters back up. RIco Marlazonez just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Silva wants to clinch but Marlazonez slips to the side

and Marlazonez decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Silva's guard.

Silva pulls Marlazonez in close to his closed guard and prevents Marlazonez from doing any damage or advancing position.

Marlazonez swings for the body but Silva moves out of range.
Marlazonez throws a right hand that Silva ducks under and follows up with a left that Silva also avoids with ease.
Kim Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Marlazonez tries to clinch but Silva moves out of range.
Silva lands a nice looking kick to the body. Marlazonez takes a step back to recover.

Silva scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Marlazonez sneaks back into half guard.
Marlazonez wants to control but Silva is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Silva wants to free his trapped foot but Marlazonez is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marlazonez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Marlazonez shoots in and drives through. Silva sprawls well.

Silva forces Marlazonez back against the cage and clinches.
Marlazonez takes an elbow to the temple.
Marlazonez is trying to stall.
Silva stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Silva is pressed up against the cage. Marlazonez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Silva down to the mat. Silva avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for RIco Marlazonez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Silva closes the distance but Marlazonez moves to the side
and Marlazonez counters with a left and a right that stings Silva.
RIco Marlazonez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Silva throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Marlazonez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Silva fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Marlazonez sprawls well initially but Silva persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Silva has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Silva scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Marlazonez?
Marlazonez tries to hold on but Silva postures up.
Marlazonez is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Marlazonez tries to reverse the position but Silva maintains control.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Marlazonez has given up his back here.

Kim Silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

RIco Marlazonez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of RIco Marlazonez.
Marlazonez's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Marlazonez duly obliges.
A slapping leg kick lands for Marlazonez.
A swing and a miss from Marlazonez.

Marlazonez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Marlazonez showed some decent athleticism there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marlazonez is taking a breather. Silva says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Silva tries to roll over but Marlazonez keeps him under control.

Marlazonez decides to return to a standing position.

Marlazonez drives through with a takedown into guard.
Silva wants to stand but Marlazonez is controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Silva working for a triangle but Marlazonez defends it easily.
Marlazonez wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.
Silva is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Silva seems to be working for a kimura but Marlazonez defends the submission attempt.
Marlazonez tries to roll over but Silva keeps him under control.

It looks like Silva is going to stand back up.
Marlazonez is trying to maintain the position but Silva is very close to passing his half guard.
Silva blocks the strikes from Marlazonez.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Silva tries to stand and escape but Marlazonez is controlling the position.
Marlazonez works his way to full guard. Good work.

Silva avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Silva throws a big right hand that misses.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Silva's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Marlazonez trying to keep a closed guard but Silva is proving a slippery customer.
Silva slips nicely into half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
RIco Marlazonez showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Marlazonez has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
