The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tavares shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Diamond as he avoids it easily.
Tavares shoots in for a takedown but Diamond shows good takedown defense.
Diamond lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tavares circles away quickly and effectively.
Tui Tavares seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tavares throws a left and a right that both miss
and Diamond counters with a series of strikes. Tavares will be more careful next time no doubt.
Diamond throws a nice looking combination but Tavares bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Tavares shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Diamond manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Tavares tries to free his leg and advance position but Diamond is retaining full guard.
Tavares trying to control the position from guard on top but Diamond is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Tavares is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Diamond has a closed guard, preventing Tavares from standing up.

Diamond wants to get back to his feet but Tavares is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Tavares throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Diamond works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Diamond is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Diamond keeping moving, preventing Tavares from controlling successfully.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Diamond defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Tavares.
Stevie Diamond has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tui Tavares.
Tavares tries to clinch up

and Diamond counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Tavares shoots for a double leg takedown but Diamond sprawls well. He's pushed Tavares's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Tavares walks into a stiff left hand from Diamond.
Diamond throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Tavares looks gassed!

Diamond lands a nice looking body shot.
Tavares shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Diamond counters with a left to the body.
Tavares takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Tavares has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Tavares needs to keep his hands up - Diamond had a free shot at his head there.

Diamond lands with a massive overhand right! Stick a fork in Tavares - he's out cold! Ermm... I think I just mixed my metaphors but yeah... That was a nice KO! Big win for Diamond!
