The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Patrick Alders and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pepper looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Volkhov is fending him off so far but Pepper persists. Nope, Volkhov circles away and we're back to standing.
A swing and a miss from Volkhov.
Volkhov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pepper moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Volkhov looks to score with a jab to the body but Pepper is just out of range.
Volkhov throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

The fight stays on the outside here - Pepper looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Volkhov misses with a hook. Pepper ducked under it nicely.
Pepper closes the distance and clinches up with Volkhov, looking for a takedown. Pepper pushes Volkhov against the cage but Volkhov circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Pepper uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Volkhov.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Volkhov thows a body shot but no joy.

Pepper misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Volkhov is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Volkhov looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pepper is one step ahead there.

Pepper stands and throws Volkhov's legs to the side, diving into side control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Volkhov moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Pepper tries to free his leg and advance position but Volkhov is retaining full guard.
Pepper postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Pepper wants to pass the guard but Volkhov is keeping the position.
Volkhov manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pepper manages to get himself to full guard.
Volkhov is in close to Pepper's body, working some short punches and elbows.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pepper is on top in guard.
Pepper slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Pepper is breathing heavily.
Volkhov is trying to buck Pepper off.

Pepper tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Pepper has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Volkhov is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Pepper off and has taken his back!
Volkhov is punishing Pepper with strikes - can he finish him?!
Pepper manages to reverse the position and now he's in Volkhov's guard. Nice work there by Pepper.
Volkhov doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Pepper is pushing down on Volkhov's leg trying to pass to half guard. Volkhov is fighting to maintain full guard but Pepper has managed to sneak the leg through.
Pepper passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Volkhov!

Volkhov tries to improve his position but instead Pepper has taken his back!

Pepper has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Volkhov has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Volkhov has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

Volkhov tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Volkhov is wriggling around trying to escape.
Volkhov wants to control but Pepper is having none of it.

Volkhov keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Pepper shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Volkhov sprawls well. Volkhov wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pepper gets slowly back to his feet.

Volkhov might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Pepper walks straight into a right hand from Volkhov - that's dropped him! Volkhov jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Pepper from any more punishment! Pepper complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
