Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jason Romziel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Raul Mendonza!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendonza misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Mendonza tries for a takedown but Romziel sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Romziel throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


It looks like Raul Mendonza has been cut.

Mendonza looks for a takedown but Romziel sprawls well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Romziel seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mendonza for as long as he can get away with.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jason Romziel.

Mendonza throws a body punch but Romziel moves out of range.

and Mendonza counters with a three punch combo that has Romziel backing up. Romziel nods at Mendonza to acknowledge the strikes.
Mendonza tries to close the distance and clinch up but Romziel swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Romziel.
Romziel has knee on belly momentarily but Mendonza bucks him off and regains half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mendonza wants to get back to his feet.
Romziel is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Mendonza!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Romziel tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Romziel's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Mendonza wants to clinch up but Romziel keeps it at a distance.

Mendonza misses the jab.
Mendonza looks to land a combination but Romziel avoids it well.

Raul Mendonza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Both fighters circling a little - Romziel finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Romziel shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mendonza is trying to defend but Romziel finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Romziel looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mendonza with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Romziel decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jason Romziel.

Romziel closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mendonza to the mat! Mendonza manages to get full guard.
