PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Olle Kula (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dmitriy Boyko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kula's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, back on my feet. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kula stalks Boyko and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Boyko's face. Boyko staggers backwards, shaken.
Boyko tries to clinch but Kula moves out of range.
Kula tries to clinch up.
Kula misses with the combination.
Boyko thows a body shot but no joy.
Kula looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Boyko fails with a takedown attempt.

Kula moves into the clinch.
Kula keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Boyko's efforts to push away.

Kula escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Boyko closes the distance but Kula moves to the side

and Kula counters by clinching up.
Boyko is looking to control Kula's arms but Kula gets an underhook and turns him. Now Boyko has his back to the cage.

Kula's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Boyko slips a jab and a cross from Kula.
Kula misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kula lands an overhand right.
Kula slips a jab from Boyko.
Kula fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kula bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Boyko's head.
Kula cracks Boyko with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Boyko swats away the attempt to clinch by Kula.
Kula misses with a head kick.

Kula gets a clinch.

Kula escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kula tests Boyko's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Kula throws a nice looking combination but Boyko bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Kula is looking to break free of the clinch but Boyko has double underhooks.

and Boyko counters by moving into the clinch.

Kula is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

A frustrated look appears on Boyko's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Kula really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kula scores with the left hand. Boyko knows he should have avoided that one.
Boyko closes the distance but Kula moves to the side
and Kula counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kula throws a series of punches but Boyko avoids them all with ease.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kula is pressed up against the cage. Boyko has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kula down to the mat. Kula avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Kula bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Boyko's guard.
Boyko is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Kula dives into side control.

Kula is trying to get an arm triangle but Boyko is defending well.

Boyko shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kula defends it nicely.

Kula wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Boyko sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Kula lands a jab to the head.
Kula looks to land a combination. Boyko sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Kula closes the distance and pushes Boyko back into the cage.

Kula escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kula throws a one two combo.

Nice uppercut there from Kula.
Kula swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Boyko with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Kula to score with a decent uppercut.

Kula prevents Boyko from breaking the clinch.
Boyko wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Kula pushes Boyko back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Olle Kula is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kula, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
