The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to de liver by Liddell . Beautiful body shot.
Liddell throws a sloppy head kick and Cabron moves out of range easily.

Liddell gets caught flat footed, as Cabron shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Cabron looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Cabron prevents Liddell from getting back to his feet.
Liddell keeping moving, preventing Cabron from controlling successfully.
Liddell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cabron. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Liddell is looking to stand up but Cabron isn't so interested in that idea.
Cabron is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Cabron makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Cabron is pushing down on Liddell 's leg trying to pass to half guard. Liddell is fighting to maintain full guard but Cabron has managed to sneak the leg through.
Cabron wants to take a breather but Liddell is having none of it.
Cabron is pressing down on Liddell 's thigh, looking to free his foot. Liddell is holding on for now.

Cabron is looking for a kimura but Liddell is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cabron to get the leverage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Cabron is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Liddell is just riding it out for now. Cabron eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cabron is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Cabron is looking to take a break and control but Liddell is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Cabron is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Liddell sees it coming and defends easily.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Cabron is looking to pass Liddell 's guard but actually Liddell recovers to full guard.
Cabron loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cabron accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Cabron throws and elbow that misses. Liddell uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Cabron's guard. Nice move by Liddell !
Cabron is trying to keep Liddell in close.
Liddell would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cabron manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Liddell manages to get himself to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cabron is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
