Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jerry Ferro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenji Makuto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Tokyo, Jerry Ferro!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenji Makuto!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shirou Masuda and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ferro throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ferro fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Ferro scores with a shot to the body.
Ferro lands with a cross.
Makuto falls off balance throwing a combination
and Ferro counters with a right hand to the body.
Ferro uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Makuto.
Makuto swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Ferro counters with a right hand to the body.
Ferro sizes up Makuto with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Ferro scores with a sloppy right hand. Makuto should have avoided that one.

Ferro shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ferro accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Ferro throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Makuto works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ferro slips a straight right by Makuto.
Ferro throws a series of punches but Makuto moves out of range.
Makuto falls off balance throwing a combination
and Ferro counters with a three punch combo that has Makuto backing up. Makuto nods at Ferro to acknowledge the strikes.
Ferro connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Makuto's hands.
Makuto throws a left and a right that both miss
and Ferro cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Ferro scores with a jab to the body.
Kenji Makuto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Makuto looks gassed!
Makuto throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Ferro connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Ferro fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Makuto sprawls well initially but Ferro persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Ferro not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Makuto is defending against the submission attempts here by Ferro.
Ferro looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Makuto with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Ferro is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Makuto is just riding it out for now. Ferro eventually gives up the hold.

Makuto keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Makuto is defending against the submission attempts here by Ferro.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ferro trying to control from half guard but Makuto is working away.
Ferro thows a huge punch but Makuto dodges it nicely.

Makuto wants to get back to his feet.
Ferro throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Ferro is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Makuto has managed to free his arm - good work.
Ferro thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Ferro not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Ferro looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Makuto misses with a double jab

and Ferro counters with a shoot takedown. Makuto fights it but they end up in guard.
Ferro working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Ferro throwing strikes but missing.
Ferro in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Makuto is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ferro is controlling him.
Makuto really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ferro. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ferro is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Ferro throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Ferro lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Ferro working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ferro cracks Makuto with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Ferro walks into a straight right hand from Makuto.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ferro scores with a one two! Makuto had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Makuto throws a combination that misses
and Ferro counters with a left and a right that stings Makuto.
Ferro blocks a jab.
Ferro lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jerry Ferro dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

The fighters circling - Makuto throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Makuto misses with a double jab
and Ferro counters with a nice uppercut.

Ferro throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Makuto was covering up waiting for the punch and Ferro finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Ferro with a flurry of punches that miss.
Ferro advances to half guard.
Makuto is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Ferro scores with a couple of nice shots.
Makuto is refusing to be controlled, as Ferro sits in half guard.

Ferro in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Makuto tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Ferro!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jerry Ferro!
