The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
La Place shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smalls as he jumps to the side.

Smalls closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. La Place did well to prevent Smalls getting side control.
La Place wants to improve his position but Smalls is controlling well.
The fighters are battling for position here. La Place manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Smalls content to stall in guard here.

La Place is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Smalls pulls his head out easily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
La Place fails with the takedown

and Smalls decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in La Place's guard.

Smalls really doesn't want to stay on the ground with La Place. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Smalls has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing La Place to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Smalls is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - La Place pulls down on the head and he's put Smalls to sleep! This one is all over!
