Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kai Nakajima (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kato Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Kai Nakajima has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kai Nakajima!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kato Mendez!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Sano and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nakajima moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Mendez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Mendez keeps the fight on the outside.
Nakajima misses with a double jab.
Nakajima tries to clinch but Mendez moves out of range.
Nakajima is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mendez sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Nakajima ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Nakajima leaves Mendez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Mendez drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Nakajima manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mendez has Nakajima in his guard.

Mendez wants to improve his position but Nakajima is controlling well.
Nakajima seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mendez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Nakajima has his foot on Mendez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mendez works his way back into a safe position though.

Mendez drops back, looking for a kneebar! Nakajima looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Nakajima looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Nakajima!

A close round but Kato Mendez will probably get the nod.

Nakajima stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mendez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

and Mendez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Nakajima won't be happy with that.

Mendez has control of Nakajima's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Nakajima regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Kato Mendez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Mendez swings around for an armbar but Nakajima sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Mendez's guard.

Nakajima is really struggling to control Mendez but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mendez seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Nakajima thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mendez's head.
Kai Nakajima has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kato Mendez is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Nakajima not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Kato Mendez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Mendez winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
