Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brad Rood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyrone Finan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rood comes into the arena with Enter Sandman, by Metallica blaring out of the sound system. On his way into the cage it seems that Brad Rood has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Brad Rood seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Lou da Vinci and Franklyn Lucas.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rood ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Finan moves away.
Rood digs a good hook to Finan's body.
Finan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rood sprawls well. Rood wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Finan gets slowly back to his feet.

Rood scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Finan tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Rood lands some shots froms side control.
Rood is putting a hurting on Finan here, landing some big shots from side control.
Finan taking punishment in the form of punches.

Finan is looking for a sweep.
Finan takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Rood tries for a kimura but Finan is defending well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Finan is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Rood off and has taken his back!

Rood is in a bad position with Finan working for a choke. Rood manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.
Finan is trying to control the position but Rood postures up.

Finan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rood doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rood manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Rood drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rood jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Finan isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Rood stacks Finan on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Rood!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Finan looks to move to half guard but instead Rood has passed into mount! Damn!
Rood lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Rood cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Finan is trying desperately to improve position.
Finan tries to hold on but Rood postures up.
Rood is landing with some decent strikes but Finan is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Finan tries to lock up and control but Rood gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Finan is working to get back to half guard.
Rood with a couple of short strikes.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rood is landing with some decent strikes but Finan is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Finan takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Rood lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Finan keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
BOOM! Rood connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Finan wants to hold on but Rood pushes him away.

Finan is in all sorts of trouble here.
The referee warns Finan that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Finan is working to get back to half guard.
Finan looks gassed!
Rood landing punches.
Rood connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Rood pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rood looking to finish Finan with some ground and pound. This is bad for Finan!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Finan shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Rood counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rood connects with a nice short shot to Finan's temple.
Rood lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Rood is working for a kimura but Finan is defending it quite comfortably.
Finan makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Finan.
Rood tries to free his leg and advance position but Finan is retaining full guard.

Finan is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Finan looking for a sweep. Not yet Finan, not yet.
Rood has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Rood lunges at Finan with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Finan's hand.
Rood fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Finan manages to avoid it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Finan has his takedown stuffed
and Rood counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Finan is lucky that one didn't land flush.

and Rood counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rood.
Brad Rood has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyrone Finan.
Finan is breathing heavily.
Rood distracts Finan with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Rood lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Finan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rood's guard.
Brad Rood overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Finan won't allow Rood to sweep him here.

Finan is sitting in close to Rood's body. Rood has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Finan is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Finan is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Rood.
