PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vikram Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lonje Moco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lonje Moco is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vikram Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lonje Moco!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Dmitry Maklakov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khan throws a jab but it's blocked by Moco.
Moco throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Moco throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Moco shoots in for a takedown but Khan shows good takedown defense.
Moco is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Khan blocks a head kick by Moco.

Moco gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Moco wants to stand up but Khan is controlling him.

Moco working for submissions but it's allowed Khan to get to half guard.
Moco is looking for a sweep. Khan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Khan is trying to control the action in half guard but Moco is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Moco strikes from the bottom but Khan passes into mount!
Khan content just to control the position here.
BOOM! Khan connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Moco is squirming around, avoiding Khan's attempts to control the action.
Moco is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Khan looking to control and managing it successfully.
Khan trying to control but Moco is having none of it.
Moco tries to hold on but Khan pushes him away.
Khan trying to control but he's not successful this time.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Moco can do anything to dispel that myth.
Khan lands a big elbow.
Moco is desperately trying to improve his position but Khan has a good base and remains in mount.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Moco tries to hold on but Khan pushes him away.
Khan controlling from mount.
Moco is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Moco is wriggling around trying to escape.
Khan trying to control but Moco is having none of it.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Moco is working to get back to half guard.
Moco tries to hold on but Khan postures up.
Khan can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Moco is looking to escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Moco tries to hold on but Khan pushes him away.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Moco is desperately trying to improve his position but Khan has a good base and remains in mount.
Moco is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Moco wants to control but Khan is having none of it.
Khan blocks Moco's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Khan avoids the attempt from Moco to control.

Moco is squirming around, avoiding Khan's attempts to control the action.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Khan is breathing heavily.
Moco is working to get back to half guard.
Khan tries to control but Moco wriggling away.
Khan is really struggling to control Moco but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Moco working to try and regain half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vikram Khan dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Khan gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Moco to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Khan is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Vikram Khan.

Moco shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Khan manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Moco lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Moco is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Moco postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Moco trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Moco is working Khan over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Moco must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Moco would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Moco postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Moco. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Moco looking to sit in guard and control but Khan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Moco throws his legs up looking for a submission but Khan uses it to pass to side control.

Khan is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Moco has escaped the position, nice work there.
Moco really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Khan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Moco is trying to control Khan's posture but Khan avoids it.
Who's going to make the next move?

Moco is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but Khan has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Moco wants to control but Khan postures up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Moco closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Moco lands in his opponent's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Khan is on top in guard.
Moco controls Khan momentarily but Khan frees himself.
Moco might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Khan kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Khan is looking to stand up but Moco won't let him.
Khan postures up.
Moco pulls Khan in close to prevent any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Lonje Moco.

Moco decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Well, if Moco is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Khan wants to control but Moco is keeping busy and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lonje Moco showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Moco throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Khan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Vikram Khan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Moco shoots and misses
and Khan connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Moco takes one to the side of the head.
Khan has a takedown stuffed.
Moco tries to land a body kick

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Khan wants to control from the top but Moco keeps moving.
Khan passes into half guard.

Khan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Khan is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Moco has managed to free his arm - good work.
Moco is controlling Khan's trapped leg to prevent Khan from advancing to side control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Khan tries to pass the half guard into mount. Moco knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Khan throws a looping overhand right but Moco ducks down to avoid it.
Moco throws a sloppy head kick and Khan moves out of range easily.

Moco clinches with his opponent.
Khan tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Moco avoids it.

Moco has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Khan uses from the top position.
Moco wants to get back to his feet but Khan is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Khan passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.

Khan wants to free his trapped foot but Moco is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Khan throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Moco wants to get back to his feet.
Moco is on the bottom, trying to hold on to half guard. He's throwing a few small shots here, to keep his opponent honest.
Moco is not content to let Khan control the position.
Moco misses with some strikes from the bottom.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Moco drives through with a takedown into guard.
Khan wants to sweep but no luck.
Moco controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Khan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Moco gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Moco lands a couple of elbows.
Moco trying to control but Khan is working from the bottom.
Moco distracts Khan with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Khan being controlled here, momentarily.
Moco wants to control from the top but Khan keeps moving.
Khan doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Vikram Khan.
I think Khan has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
