PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Crane McCain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chew Baka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Crane McCain!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chew Baka!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Thiago Cunha and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Baka scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
McCain gets back to half guard.
Baka is nestled in close to McCain, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
McCain gets full guard.
Baka pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. McCain is keeping the position for now.
Baka throwing strikes from guard but McCain blocks nicely.
McCain is trying to keep Baka in close.
McCain looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Baka preventing the sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Baka has gone for a leg lock! McCain slips out almost immediately though and dives into Baka's guard.
McCain sitting in guard, not really doing much.

That's one minute gone in the round.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Baka can't keep his opponent in guard - McCain advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McCain keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
McCain wants to free his trapped foot but Baka is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Baka looking for subs from the bottom but McCain mounts him!
Baka is in a horrible position here. McCain smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McCain controlling from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Crane McCain dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


McCain throws a head kick but Baka moves out of range.
McCain has his takedown stuffed

and Baka counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Baka drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but McCain manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Baka has McCain in his guard.
Baka keeping moving, preventing McCain from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McCain controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
McCain in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Baka wants to improve his position but instead McCain has moved into half guard.
Baka tries to regain full guard. Instead though, McCain has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
McCain throwing strikes here but Baka is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Baka keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
McCain controlling the pace for now.
McCain has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chew Baka showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Baka shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and McCain counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
McCain is figuring out what he wants to do next.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Crane McCain just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Baka gets a takedown into half guard.
McCain moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Baka missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Crane McCain overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
McCain wants to sweep but no luck.

Baka avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McCain wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Baka manages to pass to side control.

Baka is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Baka is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and McCain defends it well.
Baka takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
McCain is controlling Baka's position as best he can from this difficult position.
McCain gets full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Baka drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and McCain dives on top into guard.

Baka working for submissions but it's allowed McCain to get to half guard.
McCain passes the guard and advances to mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McCain looking to control and managing it successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
McCain avoids the attempt from Baka to control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Crane McCain showed his dominance in that final round.
Well McCain has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
