PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Silent Kyodasha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Shakespire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Shakespire's choice of entrance music: Insane Clown Posse - In Yo Face. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Silent Kyodasha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, William Shakespire!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Taro Takaoka and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kyodasha shoots in but Shakespire avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Kyodasha throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Kyodasha gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Kyodasha is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Kyodasha is trying desperately to improve position.

Shakespire goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Kyodasha is on top in guard.

Kyodasha avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Kyodasha throws a big right hand that misses.
Kyodasha trying to control the position from guard on top but Shakespire is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Shakespire escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kyodasha gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Kyodasha drops back looking for a leg! Shakespire is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Shakespire manages to kick Kyodasha off! Kyodasha jumps back into Shakespire's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kyodasha wants to pass the guard but Shakespire is keeping the position.
Kyodasha missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Shakespire wants to improve his position but Kyodasha is controlling well.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Shakespire is persistently looking for the submission but Kyodasha is defending it well.

William Shakespire showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Kyodasha fails with the takedown

and Shakespire counters with a single leg into guard. Kyodasha didn't expect that.
Shakespire wants to control from the top but Kyodasha keeps moving.
Shakespire pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kyodasha is keeping the position for now.
Shakespire working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Kyodasha wants to stand and escape but Shakespire is having none of it.
Kyodasha bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Shakespire's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kyodasha wanted to stand there but Shakespire had control of the position.
Shakespire keeping moving, preventing Kyodasha from controlling successfully.

Kyodasha is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Shakespire is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Kyodasha would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Shakespire has his foot on Kyodasha's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kyodasha works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Kyodasha drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kyodasha jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Shakespire counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kyodasha won't be happy with that.

Shakespire swings around for an armbar but Kyodasha sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Shakespire's guard.

Shakespire has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Kyodasha is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Shakespire.

Shakespire tries to improve position but can't.
Shakespire dodges the ground and pound from Kyodasha.
Kyodasha creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Shakespire sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Shakespire throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Kyodasha escapes and throws Shakespire's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Shakespire tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kyodasha wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Shakespire wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

And that's the end of the fight!
William Shakespire comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Shakespire has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
