PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hoof Face (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Louis Freese (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hoof Face!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Louis Freese!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Face shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Freese as he jumps to the side.
Freese slaps away a takedown attempt from Face, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Freese throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Freese needs to keep his hands up - Face had a free shot at his head there.
Face with a jab.
Face shoots in looking for a takedown. Freese tries to sprawl out of it but Face keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Freese manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hoof Face. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Face dips to his left and cracks Freese with an uppercut!
Face scores with a one two! Freese had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Face bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Freese is looking to reverse the position.
Face working the strikes but Freese uses the opportunity to regain half guard.

Freese won't allow Face to pass to mount.
Freese is refusing to be controlled, as Face sits in half guard.
Freese blocking the ground and pound attempt from Face.
Freese is staying active underneath Face, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Face is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Freese is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Face throws a combination that misses
and Freese counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Face keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Freese slips a jab and a cross from Face.
Face misses with a two punch combination.
Louis Freese is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Freese walks into a jab.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
A telegraphed right hand from Face misses the target.

Face shoots in and bounces Freese off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Face is looking to advance position but Freese has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Freese tries to control but Face wriggling away.
Face is desperately trying to improve his position but Freese has a good base and remains in mount.
Face is trying to reverse the position but instead Freese has taken his back - oops!

Freese is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Face is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Freese.
Face wants to escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Face breaks Freese's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Face trying to control but Freese is working from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Face shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Face is breathing heavily.
Face not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Face is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Freese!
Poor strikes thrown by Face there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Face landing strikes from the mount and Freese is in trouble!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hoof Face dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Face shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Face is just content to waste time from the top position. Freese takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Face passes Freese's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Face wants to lay and pray for a moment but Freese keeps working.
Face wants to pass to mount but Freese is defending the position.
Freese is trying to control but can't.

Freese is staying active underneath Face, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Face wants to free his trapped foot but Freese is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Freese wants to control but Face is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Face with a lazy takedown attempt
and Freese counters with a two punch combo.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Face shoots and misses
and Face takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Hoof Face seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Face is pressing down on Freese's thigh, looking to free his foot. Freese is holding on for now.

Freese is looking for a sweep. Face is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Face not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Face is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Freese reverses the position - he's now on top in Face's guard.

Face had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Freese defends it easily.

Face is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Freese misses with a series of wild punches.
Freese throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Face throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Freese was covering up waiting for the punch and Face finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Face looking to sit in guard and control but Freese gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Face is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Face is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Freese defends well.
Face looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Hoof Face will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Freese slows the pace down.
Face is looking for a sweep.

Freese decides to stand up, so the ref orders Face to his feet.
Face showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Freese.

Louis Freese has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Face throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Freese counters with a left to the body.

Face gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Freese counters with a one-two to the body.
Freese looks to land a combination but Face avoids it well.

and Freese counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Face throws a looping overhand right but Freese ducks down to avoid it.

and Face counters with a three punch combo that has Freese backing up. Freese nods at Face to acknowledge the strikes.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
