Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Robert Matthews!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dean Rickson!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Rickson.
Rickson looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Matthews fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Rickson checks it well.
Rickson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Matthews closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rickson to the mat! Rickson manages to get full guard.
Matthews looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Rickson has a closed guard, preventing Matthews from standing up.
Rickson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Matthews controls the pace.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Matthews connects with a nice short shot to Rickson's temple.

Matthews changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rickson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Matthews wants to stand but Rickson is controlling his posture from full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Rickson wants to control from the top but Matthews keeps moving.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Matthews, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
