Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sanae Kondo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Earts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sanae Kondo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jim Earts!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kondo scores with a body shot.

Earts shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kondo napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Kondo tries to escape but Earts is in control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Earts is looking to take a break and control but Kondo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Earts controls the position.
Earts works to advance to full mount. Kondo defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Earts looking to control and managing it successfully.
Kondo is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Earts controlling from mount.

Kondo is looking to get to half guard.
Earts controlling from mount.
Earts looking to control but Kondo is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Kondo working to try and regain half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Earts avoids the attempt from Kondo to control.
Earts controlling from the full mount.
Kondo tries to hold on but Earts pushes him away.
Earts trying to control but Kondo is having none of it.
Kondo is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Kondo can't escape the position.
Earts takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Despite being in the dominant position, Jim Earts just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kondo moves out of range as Earts strikes.
Kondo tries to clinch but Earts is having none of it.

Earts shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kondo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Kondo has his feet on Earts's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Kondo looks to land a combination but Earts avoids it well.

Earts throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kondo was covering up waiting for the punch and Earts finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Kondo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Earts is one step ahead there.
Kondo is breathing heavily.
Earts trying to control but Kondo is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Earts dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Earts throws a sloppy head kick and Kondo moves out of range easily.

Kondo forces Earts back against the cage and clinches.

Kondo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Earts throws a body punch but Kondo moves out of range.
Kondo throws a body kick that misses.

Earts shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Kondo wants to get back to full guard.
Earts seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kondo trying to control but Earts postures up.
Earts with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Earts trying to pass the guard but Kondo defending well.
Kondo wants to control but Earts is keeping busy.
Kondo tries to kick Earts off in order to stand up. Earts Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kondo tries to buck Earts off but Earts is having none of it.
Kondo struggling a bit here.
Earts postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Kondo tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Kondo moves out of range of the body kick from Earts.

Earts shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Kondo looking for a guillotine here but Earts defends easily.
Earts won't allow Kondo to sweep him here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Earts is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Earts pushing down on Kondo's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Earts is figuring out what he wants to do next.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Earts is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Kondo!
Kondo is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Earts prevents Kondo from getting the reversal.
Earts looking to control and managing it successfully.
Kondo working to try and regain half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The referee warns Kondo that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jim Earts showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Earts closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Kondo has his takedown stuffed

and Earts counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Kondo's guard now.
Earts showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Kondo wants to get back to his feet but Earts passes into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Earts takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Let's hope that Earts has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Kondo tries to roll over but Earts keeps him under control.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Earts performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Earts trying to mount his opponent but Kondo defends it.
Jim Earts is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Kondo is trying to get back to full guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Earts in particular looking to stall.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Earts wants to pass the guard but Kondo is defending well.
Sanae Kondo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Earts should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
