PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Juan Chaco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Monet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Chaco might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to viva la vida. Monet has chosen Indestructable as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Daniel Blasius and Nard Betker.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chaco lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Monet circles away quickly and effectively.
Chaco tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Chaco will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Chaco takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Monet shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Chaco as he jumps to the side.
Chaco moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Chaco looks for the body kick but Monet saw that one coming.

Monet closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Chaco to the mat! Chaco manages to get full guard.
Chaco is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Chaco is keen to just control but Monet is a slippery customer.
Chaco is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Chaco connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Chaco moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Chaco clinches up with Monet and pushes him back against the cage.
Chaco is trying to break the clinch but Monet is controlling him.

Monet has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Chaco uses from the top position.
Monet has a closed guard, preventing Chaco from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chaco working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Monet's head.
Chaco has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Chaco wants to get up but he can't break Monet's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Chaco wants to control from the top but Monet keeps moving.
Chaco stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Monet swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Chaco gets caught flat footed, as Monet shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Chaco is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Chaco could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Monetis looking to pass into half guard but Chaco pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Chaco is in guard.

Monet working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chaco doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chaco manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Monet is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Chaco stands up and waves to Monet to follow him.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Juan Chaco will probably get the nod.
That's time! Chaco's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Chaco lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Chaco closes this distance looking for a takedown but Monet circles away.

Monet closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Chaco did well to prevent Monet getting side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
