PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tavalagi Umaga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Manchiller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Umaga might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Samoan Savage. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tavalagi Umaga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carlos Manchiller!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manchiller closes the distance and clinches up with Umaga, looking for a takedown. Manchiller pushes Umaga against the cage but Umaga circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Manchiller is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Umaga throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Umaga shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Umaga was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Manchiller tries to reverse the position but Umaga maintains control.
Manchiller is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Umaga blocks Manchiller's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Manchiller wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Manchiller rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Manchiller is controlling Umaga's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Umaga looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Umaga passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Manchiller!
Manchiller reaches up to try and control the position but Umaga seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Manchiller rolls and tries to escape and now Umaga has his back!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Umaga's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Manchiller is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Umaga is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tavalagi Umaga dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Umaga closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Manchiller to the mat! Manchiller manages to get full guard.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Tavalagi Umaga just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Umaga looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Umaga perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Umaga tries to pass the half guard into mount. Manchiller knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Manchiller wants to control the action here but instead Umaga manages to pass to full mount!

The referee stands the fighters back up. Tavalagi Umaga just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Manchiller dodges the punch combination from Umaga.
A head kick misses from Umaga.
Umaga thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Manchiller if he has to take too many more of those.

Umaga seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Manchiller for as long as he can get away with.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tavalagi Umaga dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Umaga tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Umaga scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

and Umaga counters with a big head kick but Manchiller shrugs it off.

Manchiller gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Umaga passes Manchiller's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Umaga is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Manchiller takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Manchiller throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Umaga performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Manchiller wants to sweep but Umaga has passed to side control!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Tavalagi Umaga overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Umaga is staying tight to Manchiller's torso, preventing him from escaping.

so Umaga counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Umaga is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Manchiller has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Umaga is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Manchiller.

Carlos Manchiller has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Manchiller is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Tavalagi Umaga showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Umaga has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
