The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bitonti uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Bitonti stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alexander swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Alexander will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Alexander tries to clinch but Bitonti is having none of it.

Bitonti throws a lazy right hand but Alexander sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Alexander fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bitonti manages to avoid it.
Bitonti throws a low kick but it's checked well by Alexander.
Bitonti dives in and grabs Alexander's left leg, looking for a takedown. Alexander pushes down on Bitonti's head and hops out.
Bitonti shoots for a double leg takedown but Alexander sprawls well. He's pushed Bitonti's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
You can see the frustration on Alexander's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Alexander knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bitonti on the ground.

Alexander is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Bitonti is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Bitonti is looking for a choke. Alexander gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Alexander manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Bitonti misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
